Layout for new Gregory Hills Primary school revealed

The new primary school in southwest Sydney is planned to cater for about 1000 students. See the layout of the educational facility.

A new primary school in southwest Sydney is one step closer to becoming a reality as the layout has been revealed.

The school, which the project for was announced in 2018, is to be built in Gregory Hills and will cater for about 1000 students.

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said he was thrilled to announce that plans for the Gregory Hills Drive site were rolling ahead with the lodgement of the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) application requests.

“Plans are progressing for the new primary school in Gregory Hills and I look forward to seeing the project take shape in the coming months,” he said.

“The school will include fit-for-purpose learning spaces and core facilities to support the growing area catering for approximately 1000 students and will greatly benefit the Gregory Hills community.”

Mr Sidgreaves said it was also the first time that the community could set their eyes on the layout of the school.

“It’s great that we can now visualise what is going to be happening on the land that it will be built on,” he said.

“It’s great to see the planning progress is continuing and at some point soon it would be nice to see the concept design.”

Mr Sidgreaves said he expected to see construction start within six months of approval, and the school could be open from mid-2023.

The community is invited to an information booth at Gregory Hills Town Centre on May 11 from 3pm to 5pm (near Woolworths) to ask questions and learn more about the upgrade.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said she was delighted to see the new primary school in Gregory Hills is progressing.

“I’m proud that we are continuing our record investment in school infrastructure across NSW,” she said.

“We are working hard to provide schools with modern facilities designed specifically for their community.”
