Justin Richard Barnes: Cop charged with negligent and dangerous driving at Gregory Hills

A police officer who allegedly drove dangerously and negligently in a Gregory Hills pub carpark will fight the charges that have been laid against him.

Justin Richard Barnes, 29, has been charged with four offences including negligent driving, driver recklessly or furiously in a speed or manner dangerous, not giving particulars to another driver and responsible person not disclosing driver’s details.

According to court documents, prosecutors will allege that Mr Barnes, of Oran Park, negligently drove about 7pm on December 5, 2021 on Central Hills Drive, Gregory Hills and in the public carparking area of Gregory Hills Hotel.

The further allege that he drove in a dangerous manner in the same location.

Court documents allege Barnes failed to give his details to another driver after a crash and did not give the name and address of a driver to a police officer who allegedly committed an offence.

Mr Barnes is a senior constable attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region.

Mr Barnes has pleaded not guilty to the four offences and will fight the charges at a hearing at Picton Local Court on May 5, 2023.
