A shot was allegedly fired from inside a home as a result of a housing dispute in Sydney’s southwest outskirts, leading to NSW Police’s Riot Squad being called to the scene.
About 7.30pm on Wednesday, a 45-year-old man attended a home on Hunter St, Tahmoor, to speak to the occupant regarding a tenancy dispute.
An argument ensued, then it is alleged, a shot was fired from inside the home. A man was then allegedly threatened with a firearm.
Police were notified and officers from Camden attended the home, assisted by the Public Order Riot Squad and the occupant, Joshua Rose, 39, surrendered to police without incident. He was arrested and taken to Narellan police station.
A crime scene was established at the home with police seizing two sawn off .22 calibre rifles and an amount of ammunition. It will be alleged that these items were not secured in an approved storage safe.
Mr Rose was charged with five offences including firing a firearm in a manner likely injure persons or property, two counts of possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, possess ammunitioning without holding licence/permit/authority, and not keeping a firearm safely – not pistol/prohibited firearm.
He was refused bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody to reappear at the same court on September 13.
