A teenager has been released from prison on strict conditional bail after she was arrested for her alleged involvement in the public stabbing of a man in the carpark of a sporting complex.

Emergency services rushed to the carpark of the Eschol Park Sports Complex at Eagle Vale just before 3.30pm on May 2 after onlookers reported a brawl.

Joshua Barham, 21, was found in the carpark suffering multiple stab wounds and rushed to Liverpool where he underwent surgery and has since been released.

Jordan Nelson is one of five people who have since been charged over the alleged incident when she was arrested at her home on May 6.

The 18-year-old was taken to Campbelltown police station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (accessory after the fact), and tamper with evidence with intent to mislead.

Police alleged in court Ms Nelson filmed the entire altercation on her phone but deleted the footage.

She appeared at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday via AVL where she applied for bail with her mother and grandmother supporting her from the public gallery.

A police prosecutor opposed bail as he said he was concerned for the safety of the community and every other person charged in relation to the alleged stabbing has been bail refused.

“Tampering with the phone footage is concerning, police have concerns she has a connection to more members,” the prosecutor told the court.

The court heard not everyone involved in the alleged stabbing had been charged.

Ms Nelson’s lawyer told the court her alleged involvement was merely “speculation” and she disclosed to police in her interview a number of people involved.

The court heard the recording of the alleged brawl was sent through WhatsApp to a friend.

“The allegations are serious but weak and she has no background in violence and no association with a criminal gang,” he said.

Ms Nelson’s mother cried in the gallery as Magistrate George Breton told the court the teenager could face a full-time jail sentence for her charges.

He also revealed the brawl involved two gangs, telling the court: “members of the Triple 8 gang approached associates of a rival gang, isolated him and struck him twice with machetes while imposing other assaults on him”.

“The events were frightening to those around and involved a serious assault on an undefended innocent bystander,” magistrate Breton said.

He told the court Ms Nelson allegedly filmed the altercation on her mobile before later destroying the file as “she knew it contained evidence of the events which occurred and did so in order to protect her and others”.

Magistrate Breton said she is a young person with no prior criminal record and strong ties in the community and granted her bail with a $10,000 surety provided by her mother and grandmother.

Ms Nelson is to live with her mother, not leave home and report to Campbelltown Police Station daily.

She will appear in court again on June 30.
