Friends and family have mourned the loss of a motorcyclist — described as being “too young to be taken away” — after he was tragically killed in a south-west Sydney crash.

Jerry Lee Gardner, 24, died after his Yamaha R1 collided with a car while he was riding to work on the corner of Progress Circuit and Lyn Parade in Prestons at 6am Friday.
Paramedics performed CPR, but sadly he died at the scene.
Friends and family expressed their shock over the tragic news, posting tributes on social media, many lamenting that “he was too young to be taken away”.
Partner Alex described Jerry as “the most amazing man and it was a blessing I got to know him”.
While his mum Sarah, posting a heartbreaking message on social media saying she was sorry she couldn’t hold her son’s hand or be with him in his final moments.
His aunt Jean Villa-Leafa posting that her nephew’s death has left a huge hole in his family’s hearts and that ‘our book has closed while never forgotten.’
She shared a statement on behalf of the family.
“Jerry-Lee was a loving, caring son, brother and nephew. It was a shock to us all down here in Melbourne. There are so many beautiful memories of Jerry. He was full of life, always on the go, always loved spending time with his family. He held his family very close to his heart, he was always there for his siblings, and was the apple of his mum’s eye.”
Glenna Niedermayer also wrote on social media: “We are deeply saddened and shocked to hear. Thoughts and prayers to everyone hurting, To Jerry’s family and friends.
“We had a minute silence before our Minto soccer match for Jerry and family on Sunday. Rest in peace.”
Others remembered a friend who was ‘one of a kind’, ‘a top bloke’ and someone who will ‘forever be missed.’
Police have charged a 39-year-old driver from Westmead with negligent driving occasioning death. He will appear in Liverpool Court next month.
