Jason William Duncan to fight sexual assault charges against teenager at trial

A 23-year-old man who is charged with having sexual intercourse with a teenager and possessing seven naked photos of the alleged victim will fight the charges.

A young man who allegedly possessed seven naked photos of a 14-year-old girl will face trial.

Jason William Duncan, 23, faces seven charges including two counts of having sex with a child between 14 and 16 years old, and two counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16.

The Bargo man is also charged with using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, using a carriage service to send indecent material and possessing child abuse material.

At Picton Local Court on Monday, Mr Duncan’s lawyer David Lloyd said there had been “extensive” negotiations with prosecutors but they were unsuccessful.

A representative for the Director of Public Prosecutions said the matter would be going to trial at Campbelltown District Court.

According to court documents, Mr Duncan allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl twice at an undisclosed location in the Macarthur region. Police further allege he sexually touched the teen twice during the same month.

Police claim Mr Duncan used his phone to solicit child sex abuse material and send indecent material to the 14-year-old in June and July this year.

He was arrested on October 7 by the Child Abuse Unit South Metro, and they further allege that he possessed seven naked photos of the 14-year-old victim.

Mr Duncan is currently on bail but restrained by restrictive conditions which prohibit him from entering the town of Tahmoor. He is also only allowed access to one phone, and the passcode must be given to police.

The matter will next be heard at Campbelltown District Court on November 10, where Mr Duncan is expected to formally enter pleas of not guilty.
