A father was forced to flee a house with his two young children after two men rocked up demanding drugs and guns, with one threatening: “if he doesn’t tell us where all the stuff is, I’m going to stab him”.

Airds man James Aslett and Jamie Barghachoun, of Panania, both pleaded guilty to demanding property in company with intent to steal, and steal in a dwelling.

Court documents state a man was looking after his two children at a Cartwright home while their mother was out.

About 8am on October 30, one of the children told her dad there were people at the back of the house.

The father opened the door to find two men, one being Barghachoun who he recognised and the other being Aslett. Barghachoun then asked where the man’s former partner was.

The pair were arrested during a vehicle stop.

When the man told the pair the woman was not home, they asked to come inside for a drink. He allowed them and provided them with water.

Court documents reveal on their request the dad then Facetimed his former partner. Barghachoun asked her for drugs and guns, to which she replied that there was nothing like that in her house and hung up.

Barghachoun then asked the man if there was any ice, guns or fake guns in the house, to which he replied he had no idea.

Aslett then called Barghachoun to look in the bedroom while the man told them, “there is nothing here” several times.

Soon, the man realised the pair would not leave and began to open drawers and lift the mattress to show there was nothing there.

Barghachoun asked, “Where’s the ice, do you have heroin?” and Aslett told Barghachoun to make sure he checked everything.

The man repeatedly said, “there is nothing here. I don’t know what you are looking for”, before he heard Aslett tell Barghachoun “If he doesn’t tell us where all the stuff is, I’m going to stab him”.

Fearing for their safety, the man collected his children, left, and called police.

Officers arrived at the house at 8.20am and saw one of the men run from the back of the house, and they pursued him on foot until he jumped over a fence and later dropped a backpack.

A witness collected it and handed it to police, who opened it to find five lady’s handbags, a Wi-Fi modem, and navy blue Adidas brand kids track pants.

On November 1, police arrested the pair during a vehicle stop, and they admitted to taking the property found in the backpack and $100 they found at the house.

The pair will be sentenced next month at Campbelltown Local Court.
