The inside story behind a night of mayhem in rural Bringelly, involving two stabbings, a shooting and a high-speed getaway, has been revealed with Kristen Lee Moriarty on Monday pleading guilty to her role in the brazen home invasion in July 2018.
The attractive 30-year-old had only months earlier called the scene of the violent crime home, with things taking a turn after housemate Vincenzo Datillo kicked her out because he was “unhappy” with the visitors she was bringing home.
When Moriarty returned to collect some things a few weeks later, she grabbed a hammer and tried to hit another housemate Amanda Brent when an argument broke out.
The tensions came to a head on the night of July 16, 2018, when Moriarty visited a Kmart in Penrith with alleged bikie associate Scott Keighran and bought a two-pack of kitchen knives.
About 11pm, Datillo and another housemate Scott Mclean were watching TV when a balaclava-clad Moriarty and Keighran stormed into the home. Moriarty told Datillo she was there to get “some of her things” and as Datillo took Keighran outside to show how the light sensors were cameras, he was allegedly stabbed in the back.
Amanda Brent woke up to the commotion and walked into the loungeroom to be greeted by Moriarty. The agreed facts reveal Moriarty pulled the balaclava off her heard and said “hello Mandy”, before Keighran suddenly appeared and allegedly punched Brent’s face repeatedly.
Keighran, described as a tall man with a large build, then allegedly held a knife to Brent’s throat and said “I will slit the rest of your f**king throat”.
As Brent escaped the attack by jumping out of her bedroom window, Keighran and Moriarty went to flee the Mersey Rd home when an armed and stabbed Datillo appeared and shot Keighran in the arm as he drove away. Datillo was later rushed to Liverpool Hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries,
Shortly after, the bullet-riddled vehicle was found by police smashed up on The Northern Rd, Luddenham, reportedly snapping a telegraph pole in half.
Moriarty was arrested at the crash scene and has been remanded in custody ever since.
As her parents sat in the back of the court, Moriarty pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless wounding in company causing actual bodily harm and break into dwelling with intent to commit a serious indictable offence, being intimidation, in company.
She will return to Campbelltown District Court for a sentence hearing on April 6.
Keighran has also pleaded guilty to his role in the night but contests the facts, with his matter to return to the same court on March 20.
