Hayne plane still holds junior athletics 100m age records

RECORDS were made to be broken, unless you're NRL superstar Jarryd Hayne.

RECORDS were made to be broken, unless you're NRL superstar Jarryd Hayne.

The former Minto resident still holds the under-9s zone Public School Sports Association (PSSA) record for the 100m sprint, which he achieved as a student at John Warby Public School, Airds.

Then eight-year-old Hayne clocked an impressive 15.12secs.

A year later, he took out the nine years 100m with 14.07secs.

The Parramatta Eels player took to Instagram to express his nostalgia.

"My athletics coach sent me this pic," Hayne said.

"(I) still hold the 8/9 yrs zone record. Good luck to every kid out there competing in zone athletic carnivals.

"No doubt my record will be gone soon. Love getting reminded of my athletics days."

Hayne's last stint in athletics was the Gatorade Bolt 100m sprint of the footy codes at Sydney Olympic Park in 2010, in which he placed third with a time of 11.20secs behind Eastwood rugby player John Grant (11.15secs) and then NSW Waratahs winger Lachie Turner (11.10secs).
