THERE may be an end in sight for the ongoing commuter frustration with the “snail-pace” speed of Gregory Hills Drive, with the RMS announcing a speed limit review is planned for the infamous stretch of road.
The speed limit review follows a staggering 98 per cent of respondents to a Macarthur Chronicle poll declaring the Gregory Hills Drive speed limit as “too slow”.
The poll was carried out after drivers contacted the Macarthur Chronicle complaining about the 60km/h limit on the new dual-carriageway road between Campbelltown and Gregory Hills, which is largely free of development.
“In light of the recent advice from council regarding Badgally Rd upgrade delivery timelines, RMS will carry out a speed limit review of Gregory Hills Drive between Eagle Vale Drive and Camden Valley Way, in accordance with NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines,” an RMS spokeswoman said.
“Reviewing speed zones is about balancing the need to ensure the correct speed limit is applied for the road conditions and not having an excessive number of speed limit changes.
“RMS regularly reviews speed limits and monitors for changes in these factors.
“RMS aims to provide consistent speed limits for motorists on NSW roads, which accurately reflect the road and surrounding environment in line with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines.”
