A grandfather accused of assaulting his young granddaughter at Camden over five years remains on bail.
The 87-year-old man who now resides in South Australia did not front court on Friday when his matter was mentioned at Picton Local Court.
He had been charged with seven offences including two counts of aggravated indecency of victim under 16 and under age of authority, two counts of indecent assault of victim under 10, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of victim under 16 and aggravated indecent assault of victim under 16.
According to court documents, prosecutors allege the first offences occurred in 2003 while the man was caring for his granddaughter at Camden.
They further allege the man eventually sexually assaulted his granddaughter at Camden when she was aged between nine and 10 years old in 2006.
It is also alleged that two years later, in 2008, the man fondled his granddaughter’s breasts at Elderslie.
In court on Friday, the police prosecutor asked for an adjournment to allow for charge certification. The man remains on bail in South Australia, and has not entered any pleas to the charges.
