Jumping castles, face painting and garden games will be part of the celebrations at the opening of the Sedgewick Reserve Youth Play Space in Currans Hill this weekend.
The $1.36 million project was one of Council’s major projects for 2018, alongside the recently opened Harrington Park Lake Reserve Youth Play Space and the Curry Reserve Water Play Park in Elderslie opening on December 1.
Camden Mayor Peter Sidgreaves said the park had been revitalised and expanded to cater for the growing community.
“This park has been central to the community of Currans Hill for a number of years and it has now been enhanced to be a real asset to the area,” Cr Sidgreaves said.
“Based on feedback from the community the new park includes climbing apparatuses, areas and equipment to activate older children as well as equipment and a sensory path with musical instruments for the little ones.
“We’ve worked to incorporate the old park with the new and hope the community joins us for the grand opening and enjoys the new space.”
Skateboarding coaches, food vans and representatives from youth services such as Headspace and YouTown will be available at the opening.
Macarthur Lions will also hold a sausage sizzle on the day for a donation.
The park will include fencing, accessible and unisex toilets, shade structures, seating and additional parking spaces.
The grand opening celebration will be held from 10am to 2pm this Saturday, at Sedgewick Reserve Youth Play Space, Currans Hill Drive, Currans Hill.
