A man has admitted to downing eight glasses of whiskey and coke before getting into a car and performing burnouts in a southwest Sydney pub’s carpark.

George Tsitsikronis, 26, fronted Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to high-range drink-driving, prolonging or sustaining loss of traction and negligent driving.

About 11pm on March 12, police entered the carpark of the Ambarvale Hotel and spotted Tsitsikronis, a Penrith resident, as he accelerated his car to sustain a prolonged loss of traction with the bitumen surface underneath.

According to the police facts, this caused a large amount of smoke to emanate from the vehicle while Tsitsikronis enabled the vehicle to slowly move forwards while gaining momentum and caused the rear of the vehicle to step sideways which means the back wheels lifted off the ground.

Police followed and Tsitsikronis continued to cause the rear of the vehicle to step sideways along Woodhouse Dr before losing control of the car and then driving into the carpark at Campbelltown Hospital.

Court documents state that police apprehended Tsitsikronis and he told police he consumed eight small glasses of Jack Daniels and Coke between 5.50pm and 10.25pm.

Tsitsikronis blew a reading of 0.151 on a breath test.

“The actions of the accused displayed no regard for his safety or the safety of others including persons exiting the licensed premises at the time,“ the police facts said.

“Police noticed the accused was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were glazed over and he had a strong smell of intoxicating liquor emanating from him.

“The vehicle was travelling in a dangerous manner in a public place which had high pedestrian traffic, most of whom had also been consuming intoxicating liquor walking around the car park and also on the footpath at the time.”

In court on Tuesday, Tsitsikronis asked the court for an adjournment to allow for a psychologist report to be completed.

The matter returns to Campbelltown Local Court on July 8 for sentencing in a few weeks.
