A long-running saga to transform a vacant site into a ‘parkland community’ of two-storey duplexes and terrace houses in the heart of Mt Annan has had a final twist, with new changes receiving the green light on Friday.
To be known as ‘Montaine Residences’, the $30 million project located next door to Mt Annan Marketplace was approved by the Land and Environment Court last year, after originally being rejected by Camden Council.
However, the Queensland-based developer Sunland Group made a bid to change-up the approved development of 139 homes, lodging plans to make slight adjustments to block sizes, staging of construction and the timing of council contributions.
Planning documents lodged on behalf of Sunland Group stated, despite the changes, it was “substantially the same development”.
Twelve objections were put forward by community members, but three planning experts took only 24 minutes to approve the changes at a Joint Regional Planning Panel on Friday.
The project will be delivered in four stages.
