The Camden Rams unveiled its marquee signing, Ray Cashmere, ahead of the 2014 group six rugby league competition.
The club will look to the former NRL enforcer to bolster its pack and add some experience to the squad that finished one place out of the finals in sixth spot last season.
Cashmere played at the elite level with Wests Tigers, North Queensland Cowboys and in the English Super League with Salford City, and also represented City Origin in 2008.
The Macarthur junior was one of the last remaining Western Suburbs players in the NRL after making his debut for the Magpies in 1999.
The Elderslie resident is looking forward to the upcoming season.
"I wanted to play for Camden last year but was obligated to play for Shell Harbour," Cashmere said. "I don't really know what to expect of the Group 6 competition; I'm sure the footy will be tough and I'm looking forward to the mateship at the club."
First grade coach Mitch Newton is looking forward to having an ex-NRL forward at his disposal.
"Ray brings that experience we lacked last year," Newton said.
"We're looking to build on last year. We are actively recruiting for a couple of positions but overall the squad will be similar.
"Having someone like Ray will also bring a positive mindset to the club."
The Rams announced former player and junior coach Jason Stevens as its reserve grade coach, and he too is looking forward to having Cashmere's experience rub off on the players.
"The boys are all excited that he's joining us," Stevens said.
