Currans Hill man Luke Cockcroft pleads guilty to possessing child abuse material

A southwest Sydney man has pleaded guilty to possessing multiple videos and images of child abuse material on his phone.
Luke Cockcroft was charged with three counts of possessing child abuse material and one count of disseminating child abuse material.
Court documents reveal that the Currans Hill man had a video on his phone which referenced a “4yo”, which was classified as a category one video meaning it depicts erotic posing of children with no sexual activity.
He used the social media platform Telegram to send the same video to another user.
Cockcroft also possessed 19 child abuse material video and images depicting various ages pre-pubescent males and females involved in sexual acts.
The 25-year-old’s lawyer entered a plea on his behalf at Picton Local Court on Wednesday.
“The defendant is currently Covid positive and in isolation. We wish to enter the plea of guilty on all charges,” she said.
“We are seeking a sentence assessment report.”
The lawyer said discussions were ongoing with the constable in charge of the case and some amendments will be made to the agreed facts.
Magistrate Mark Douglass ordered a sentence assessment report with a focus on Cockcroft’s risk of reoffending.
The matter returns to Picton Local Court on May 11 for sentencing. Cockroft remains on bail.
