Four police officers were allegedly assaulted outside a southwest Sydney pub after trying to intervene in a fight between two men.
Craig James Calvert fronted Campbelltown Local Court on Monday after being charged with 13 offences following the alleged incident.
About 6pm on Saturday 30 April, 2022, officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command responded to reports of a fight between two men outside a pub on Junction Road, Ruse.
The two men who were known to each other, were arrested at the scene.
It will be alleged that Mr Calvert assaulted and threatened four officers during the arrest. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him for minor injuries and he was taken to Campbelltown Hospital under police guard, where it is alleged further threats were made towards officers.
The Edmondson Park resident was later taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with affray, five counts of assaulting an officer in execution of duty, and six counts of intimidating a police officer in execution of duty and two counts of resisting or hindering an officer in the execution of duty.
Mr Calvert was represented in court on Monday by a solicitor who entered a plea of not guilty to all charges on his behalf.
The police prosecutor asked for five weeks to prepare a brief of evidence. The magistrate ordered it to be served by June 26.
The matter returns to Campbelltown Local Court on May 23 for a bail review.
Mr Calvert has been released on bail but must report three times a week to a police station, abide by a curfew between 8pm and 5am and abstain from drugs and alcohol.
The other man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on May 26.
