Two people have been charged over the alleged murder of a man near Liverpool at the weekend.

About 3.20pm on Saturday, police were called to a home in Eureka Crescent, Sadleir, after the body of an unidentified man was found inside.

He is believed to be a 40-year-old Minto man.

A crime scene was established, and a number of items were seized and taken for forensic examination.

Strike Force Higherdale, comprising detectives from Liverpool City Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Following inquiries, just before 2am yesterday (Sunday), a 38-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman — believed to be known to the man — were arrested at a home unit on the Hume Highway at Warwick Farm.

Early this morning (Monday), the Sadleir man was charged with murder and the Warwick Farm woman was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

The couple were both refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.
