SEASON-opening Camden and Narellan clash delivered with the Jets grabbing a 30-20 victory.
The highly anticipated Country Rugby League Group 6 season-opening clash between Camden and Narellan delivered with the Jets grabbing a 30-20 victory in a nailbiting finish.
More than 1000 fans at Crane Oval saw former South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Matt King line up for Narellan against former Wests Tigers prop Ray Cashmere.
The Rams went into the break with a 10-8 lead and Cashmere consolidated the lead early in the second half with a try taking Camden to an eight-point lead. The Jets pulled it back with tries to Josh Graham and Ben Baker giving them a 20-16 lead with 20 minutes remaining, but Mick Wright levelled the scores for Camden to develop a grandstand finish.
To add to the drama, both sides had a player sin-binned and Narellan’s Zac Burke scored his second try for the night and gave the Jets a six-point lead, before Narellan dealt the killer blow with a final try.
“I enjoyed playing in front of a healthy crowd and the atmosphere was great to be a part of,” King said.
