Council continues to lobby State Government to drop Hurlstone Agricultural High School relocation

CAMPBELLTOWN Council has written a letter to Premier Mike Baird reaffirming its opposition to the relocation of Hurlstone Agricultural High School and land sell off.

CAMPBELLTOWN Council has written a letter to Premier Mike Baird reaffirming its opposition to the relocation of Hurlstone Agricultural High School and land sell off.

General manager Lindy Deitz wrote the letter to Mr Baird in January to express disappointment as the council was not informed of the relocation and associated sale of the site.

“The council has resolved to request the State Government to abandon its decision to relocate Hurlstone Agricultural High School from Glenfield to Richmond,” Ms Deitz wrote in the letter.

“There are multiple dimensions to council’s disappointment including the absence of any consultation with council, a lack of understanding by the government over the iconic heritage, social and historic value of the school and the associative value of its name, and the remote location of the new proposed facility at Richmond,” she wrote.

The Premier’s office has forwarded a copy of the letter to Education Minister Adrian Piccoli.
