Coles Express is investigating complaints from motorists that water contaminated fuel at its Shell Narellan service station at the corner of Camden Valley Way and Grahams Hill Rd on Saturday.

A Facebook post by James Webster was shared more than 1000 times, alerting the community of the contamination after claiming it had “stuffed” his car.

The complaints follow Woolworths apologising to motorists after a fuel supply error at its Caltex Narellan service station in May.

The wrong type of fuel was administered into diesel tanks at the Camden Valley Way service station on Wednesday, May 3. The error was not identified until Friday, May 5.

Woolworths asked affected motorists to contact its customer service team on 1300 655 055.

In the latest supply incident, a number of motorists say they had been affected by “watery” fuel.

Tyson Williams, 17, said he pumped 45L of E10 fuel into his VA Ford Falcon on Saturday.

“I was in shock. I didn’t find out until the next day when I struggled to drive out of my driveway,” he said.

“I had just put my seatbelt on, reversed and went to turn the car around, and then it just stopped.”

The Narellan Vale resident spent an hour, with his friend Kane, draining the $45 worth of fuel out of his car, yet remains to be convinced his car has been spared from the damage.

“It is still making a couple of coughs and splutters,” he said.

It definitely does sound like there is a little bit of water inside.”

The fuel issue at Shell Coles Express Narellan is reportedly isolated to E10 fuel at bowser seven.

In a statement, a Coles Express spokesperson said the company was investigating the situation.

“Coles Express takes the quality of the fuel we sell extremely seriously,” the spokesperson said. “We are currently investigating a small number of customer inquiries in relation to fuel sold at Shell Coles Express in Narellan on Saturday.

“Any customers who have concerns can call the Coles Express Customer Care team on 1800 656 055.”
