School principal Michael Hanratty, in a letter to parents, thanked the staff members who responded to the medical emergency.
“As always, your children’s safety and welfare are the school’s priority,” he said.
A Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong spokesman also praised the immediate response of staff.
“It seems as though the response of our staff, on the first view, seems to have been pretty important,” he said.
“The staff would certainly be ensuring that the students who might have witnessed the student’s medical episode, and the staff who’ve been involved in responding, will be appropriately looked after and supported given these things can be pretty traumatic.”
Counsellors are on hand for all students and staff.
