A 12-year-old boy is in a serious condition at hospital after being struck by a ute near Narellan.

A 12-year-old boy is in a serious condition at hospital after being struck by a ute near Narellan this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Camden Valley Way and Smeaton Grange Rd, Smeaton Grange following reports of the collision about 9.40am.

The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.

The driver of the ute, who wasn’t injured in the collision, has also been taken to hospital for mandatory testing. A police spokeswoman said he was co-operating with police.

In the hours after the collision, a police officer was at the crash scene taking photos of two pushbikes resting on a footpath.

The circumstances surrounding the collision is to be investigated by the NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit.
