Two officers had to chase a drunk man who drove away from the police station while yelling “you dog c---s” when they tried to arrest him.

Allan Ronald Butlin, 33, fronted Picton Local Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and mid-range drink driving,

At court on Wednesday, Butlin’s lawyer told the court they would be seeking to have the charges dealt with under the mental health act.

Court documents state on December 23, the Bargo man walked into Narellan police station with watery red eyes and slurred speech and asked if his partner was there.

When officers said she was not, he went and sat in a parked car outside the station and turned the music up. Officers went outside and asked if he was OK, but he replied “I’m just waiting for a mate. Thanks for your concern”.

Later, police saw him on CCTV pulling away and ran outside and asked him to stop but he yelled out the window “f--- you”.

Butlin drove onto Wilson Cres and turned onto Camden Valley Way before police caught up with him and asked him to put the car in park, but he again responded “f--- you”.

One of the constables had to reach through the driver-side window and turn off the car before the two officers tried to pull Butlin from the car and he said “f--- off you dog c---s.

They managed to pull him from the car but Butlin continued his tirade of abuse, and in the scuffle he assaulted one of the officers. Soon more police arrived and capsicum spray had to be deployed.

Police also saw that he had opened cans of Tooheys Dry and unopened cans in the door, before he later told them after his arrest that he had drunk 10 cans over eight hours.

The matter returns to court in October.
