Andy Allen and Mike Whitney lend a hand to Camden Rugby

CAMDEN Rugby Club has done the hard yards for underprivileged children in Cambodia and is inviting the public to help.

CAMDEN Rugby Club has done the hard yards for underprivileged children in Cambodia and is now inviting the public to finish the job at the Black and Gold Community Ball.

Club representatives travelled to Cambodia in January to build a classroom for a village with no access to education, toilets and running water.

No hard work is required at the March 23 event: guests can sit back and let Masterchef 2012 winner Andy Allen provide the food and former cricketer and television personality Mike Whitney the entertainment.

Tickets are $150 a person and all proceeds go to the Rams' adopted charity Ride Aid, which was co-founded by Werombi resident and club member Bruce Fitch to support Cambodian residents in need.

Club member Tim Windle encouraged Camden residents to help the charity.

"The children in Sihanoukville have nothing, they're out late every night selling fireworks to get by. They were so appreciative when we finished the classroom and they could use more facilities," he said.

Mr Fitch said the ball was a good start to the long term project of Sihanoukville.
