A man groomed a young girl, asking her to send ‘sexy’ photos and telling her he had a ‘super private’ present for her.

A man has been jailed for nearly two years after he groomed a 13-year-old girl by asking her for “sexy” photos and telling her he had a “super private” present for her.

Adam Mark Lorking, 47, appeared in Picton Local Court on Monday after pleading guilty to grooming a child under 14 years old for an unlawful sexual activity.

On December 10 last year, the police facts show Lorking took the victim on an outing.

As he drove her home, the facts reveal Lorking told the victim not to send any inappropriate photos and told her she could talk to him about anything. According to police, he patted her knee for a long time before he was required to change gears.

The facts show the two exchanged several messages over the next few weeks, in which Lorking reiterates how much he loves spending time with her, addresses her as “beautiful”, and signs off with kisses.

In several of the texts contained in the court documents, Lorking asks her to send photos of herself.

“Cute photo plz,” one text read.

While the victim sent through PG photos, the documents show Lorking was eager for more revealing content.

“Do you have privacy to txt msg?,” he messaged her.

“(I)s anyone looking over your shoulder?”

In the texts, Lorking told the victim he had a “super private” Christmas present for her, which he thought she was mature enough to receive. The texts show he then asked the teen for a “sexy selfie” and sent an example photo of a woman lying on a bed in red lingerie.

Adam Mark Lorking appeared in Picton Local Court on November 22.

The victim immediately told her mother, who called the police. Lorking was arrested two days later on December 29. According to the facts, he told police he was not trying to pursue something sexual with the teen and said he didn’t know what he would have done with the photos if she had sent them through.

Documents tendered to the court show Lorking told a psychologist he knew what he did was wrong and he was very remorseful for his actions.

Lorking was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment with a 12-month non-parole period.

He has lodged an appeal on the severity of the sentence.

A hearing will be held in Campbelltown District Court to determine whether the sentence will stand.
