RAYNE Alefosio likes to go as fast as she can on her motorbike, even if she sends nerves through her parents as they watch on.
The Oakhurst local is this week’s Local Sports Star winner after she performed well in the interstate titles in Queensland in motocross.
She took out the B Grade minikhana and this year she will look to take out the A Grade title.
“I like riding my bike a lot,” she said.
“The best thing about riding is going really fast and over the jumps.
“I watch supercross on TV and want to go to America one day.”
Dad Kilifi said it was good, but tough, watching his little girl rev up her bike.
“I’m getting more nervous now that she’s getting faster,” he said.
“But when she takes off her helmet and I see the smile on her face I can’t tell her to stop doing it.”
Rayne is also a talented gymnast, representing the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre at the state titles before deciding that she’d concentrate on motocross 100 per cent of her time.
We also want to celebrate the parents, coaches and volunteers who help make it possible. There are five categories for nominations: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Star Team and Service to Sport.
