Samuel Jackson’s quiet determination has taken him far in his quest to play professional baseball.
The 14-year-old pitcher from Casula Lakers Baseball Club will travel to America in July after being selected for the prestigious NxtGen Baseball camp.
The program aims to train and inspire the next generation of aspiring baseball players.
It’s not the first time the Prestons teen has travelled overseas to pursue his sporting passion.
Last year, he was selected to play for the NSW team in Singapore, where they were crowned champions. Samuel’s role was pivotal, pitching the entire game.
The Westfields Sports High student was also recently picked for the NSW under-16s high performers program.
Mum Donna said the teen took to the sport immediately after joining the Lakers eight years ago.
“He’s quiet, but he’s very determined, very passionate,” she said.
Samuel has been nominated for a Local Sports Star award in the Junior Sports Star Individual category.
The competition is sponsored by Featherdale Wildlife Park and Bankstown Sports. Nominate at localsportsstars.com.au
