LINDSAY Smith has already received many honours in his junior rugby league career and now he has a Local Sports Star nomination to go with them.

Smith, who plays in the under-17s St Marys side, has played for Penrith, NSW and Australia – and he’s just 17.

The lock forward plays for Penrith in this weekend’s SG Ball qualifying final against Cronulla at Leichhardt Oval.

“We’re the first team to beat them this season so they’ll come out stronger but we’ve got a couple of players back so it should be good,” he said.

“I want to make it to the NRL, that’s my long-term goal.”

The categories are: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Star Team and Service to Sport.
