Kemps Creek United Soccer Club’s under-14 boys team is on a winning streak.
Bolstered by their recent win at the Kanga Cup in Canberra — the largest youth football tournament in the southern hemisphere — the squad is hoping to finish the season on a high note.
The boys were crowned champions after they outclassed their Melbourne opponents in Canberra with a convincing 8-1 victory.
“It was a very dominant performance right throughout the tournament,” coach Miguel Sosa said.
Just weeks later, the under-14s consolidated their success, taking out the title in the NSW State Cup with a 3-1 win against Rouse Hill Rams.
The team will compete against AC United this weekend for a spot in the finals of the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association competition.
Mr Sosa said the boys had worked hard to get to this point, with some being approached to compete in the National Premier League NSW Youth competition.
“They’re doing exceptionally well and it’s nice to see a lot of them individually are being chased for the highest possible level,” he said.
Ms Sosa praised the team for their commitment to the game, attributing their recent success to “a very good team environment on and off the field and hard work”.
“We’re very tight knit, both on and off the field.”
The squad will travel to Malaysia in September to compete against Asia's best in the Borneo Cup.
They have been nominated for a Local Sports Star award in the Team Spirit category. Nominate at localsportsstars.com.au.
