It’s not easy being a winter sport athlete in Australia but Lachlan Greentree is more than up for the challenge.
The 13-year-old alpine skier from Rouse Hill travels 16,000km between Sydney and Thredbo every winter for weekly training with the Thredbo Ski Racing Club.
But his commitment has paid dividends.
Lachlan won silver at the 2017 Intercontinental Cup. He also represented NSW at the 2018 Whistler Cup where he finished 70th in the world.
“Not bad for an Aussie kid,” Lachlan’s dad Brad said.
“He recently over Christmas spent six weeks training in Italy and France, which meant being away from home and his family but this just makes him more determined to improve his performance on the racecourse.”
