STEPHAN de Robillard is green and gold all over after being chosen for the Australian under-17 Joeys squad.
The 14-year-old Patrician Brothers’ College student competed at the under-15 National Soccer Championships at Coffs Harbour in March and was chosen from a team of future stars to represent Australia in the junior 2019 World Cup, in Russia.
“It’s pretty exciting to be on the team,” the Blacktown teen said.
“I’ve been reading about the World Cup and it’s really good to be selected.”
While the left winger has his sights set on the Australian Socceroos team, he also wants to go even bigger, playing for a European club such as Real Madrid.
“My favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo,’’ he said.
“I want to go even further and play in Europe.’’
For now though, Stephan is focusing on his club games with the Marconi Stallions, and training three times a week, along with the Joeys’ soccer camps.
Stephan has been nominated for the Local Sports Stars awards in the individual category.
Other categories include Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Team and Service to Sport.
