EDWARD Parker is preparing to take on the best in the business at the INAS World Athletics Championships in Bangkok — but he needs your help to get there.
The 14-year-old Berowra resident was selected to represent Australia after the 2017 Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney.
“I just love to run,” Parker said. “I have been competing in track and field events since I was eight years old, but this year I have competed in the NSW junior club championships and the Australian Athletics Championships.’’
“I was just selected for the Intellectual Disability Australian team, where I will compete in Bangkok on May 12, but I need my local community’s support to get me there.”
The NewsLocal Local Sports Star nominee won bronze in the U16 Para-Men for 800m, 1500m and discus, silver in the 100m and 200m sprint and gold in long jump and the 400m at the Australian Athletics Championships in February.
“We are looking for donations from the wider community to support me on my road to Bangkok,” he said. “I am aiming to compete in the Olympics in 2020, but I need to compete in the World Championships and the Global Games to get there.”
