BROCK Eyre-Nixon’s Local Sports Stars nomination has come through continued hard work on the baseball diamond and it’s not about to stop there.
The 15-year-old, who is now part of Hawkesbury men’s A-Grade squad, was selected in the Macquarie Zone Schools baseball side.
“It’s a lot of fun and even though I’ll play anywhere, I prefer to play third base and bat around number five in the line-up,” he said.
The Shalvey resident is also part of the emerging Blue Sox program, which has given him confidence to realise his dream of one day wearing green and gold.
“I’d like to play in any representative team in the future as I try to make the Australian team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo,” he said.
“It’s fun to meet and bond with the guys and I’ll play any sport where there’s a ball involved.”
The Local Sports Stars program is searching for top athletes aged under 18, as well as those selfless volunteers who contribute to making community sporting events possible.
The five categories for nominations are Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Star Team and Service to Sport.
