Nominated for their winning potential, Mt Druitt Netball Association’s under-13 representative team is the latest Local Sports Star Award candidate.
Formed in March with some of the club’s strongest players, the group has quickly clocked-up strong results and shown a committed training ethic, according to acting coach Lyn Condran.
The team has competed at three regional carnivals, placing in top three rankings across all events.
Ms Condran, a former player and coach for more than 30 years, said she had not come across a team with such convincing potential.
The Lethbridge Park resident said the nine girls showed a willingness to learn.
“They are very keen,” she said.
“They are willing to listen and learn and they like to be shown new techniques, which is impressive.
“As young players they are still developing but they have great potential, and the improvement in some of the players from last year is amazing.
“They’re a great bunch of girls and they have a great family following — I think they will just grow and grow.”
The Local Sports Star Awards are on until August 31.
