An elderly woman who was trapped in her car has been rushed to hospital with a leg injury after firefighters rescued her following a two-vehicle crash in Sydney’s southwest.
Fire and Rescue NSW was called to the intersection of Wattle Grove Drive and Nuwarra Rd at Wattle Grove following reports two cars has collided at 11.20am on Monday.
FRNSW superintendent Adam Dewberry said three trucks and eight firefighters arrived at the scene and the crew used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the side of a vehicle to free an elderly woman trapped inside.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a woman in her 80s sustained a leg injury and was taken to Liverpool Hospital.
Her passenger and the driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries and were not taken to hospital for further treatment.
All northbound lanes of Heathcote Rd remain closed at Wattle Grove Drive and Nuwarra Rd, a Live Traffic report said.
Only light vehicles can use Wattle Grove Drive and heavy vehicles can use Nuwarra and Newbridge roads and Moorebank Ave to join the M5.
