Health-conscious foodies will be able to get their fix with a new plant-based cafe and pantry opening in Hammondville.

Way2Live, a family-run business that has operated out of Voyager Point for several years, will open the doors to its new shopfront in early February, bringing with it a philosophy based on wholesome food and nutrition.

Sisters and business partners Hana Kosikova and Iva Kafkova launched their business after changing their diets six years ago and feeling better for it.

They have been a regular feature at the Warwick Farm Trackside farmers’ market every Saturday for the past three years, selling their homemade products, which contain no artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, preservatives or trans fats.

“We had excellent feedback and more new customers were coming every time to try our food,” Ms Kosikova said.

“We created Way2Live from our experience of wanting to eat healthier, plant-based, nourishing meals that promote good health, that also please the palate and increase your energy levels and feed your mind,” she said.

The cafe and pantry will serve coffee, tea and healthy coffee alternatives as well offering ready-to-go meals and freshly cooked dishes using seasonal produce.

“That’s how we operate (at) markets and that’s how our customers know us ... We don’t have the same menu for 365 days,” Ms Kosikova said.

Customers will also be able to buy ingredients from the pantry to recreate the meals on offer.

“We can see there is a growing demand for healthy foods and (a) different style of living. People are becoming more cautious about what they are putting into their bodies,” she said.

Despite that demand being more established in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the pair decided to stay local for their customers.

“We are local, and we wanted to stay here for our community and help the community thrive,” Ms Kosikova said.

“We don’t want to be just a shop. We would like to be a community hub where people can meet, learn and pass on their experience.”
