A bold plan to transform paddocks into a thriving $80m mixed-use hub in the heart of the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis has been touted as the ‘benchmark’ project for the future precinct.
Taylor Smith Projects have submitted a concept plan to the state government for four towers between eight to 16 storeys on two hectares at 126 Kelvin Park Dr, Bringelly.
The plans could include 12,000sq m of commercial space dedicated to a supermarket, child care centre and various retail below 400 apartments in the Aerotropolis Core Precinct.
The project, which will be constructed over two stages and built to the west of the planned Badgerys Creek metro line, will also have 13,000sq m dedicated to communal open space.
Planners for the development state the project will enhance the vision of “constructing a future-focused city and a global gateway for Sydney” at the new Aerotropolis.
“The site can set positive benchmarks for the precinct, fulfilling the objectives of the Aerotropolis vision, anticipating, and stimulating surrounding development while providing robustness to change as it transitions over the coming decades,” planners said.
According to planners, the Aerotropolis will contribute towards 200,000 new jobs in the broader Western Parkland City and become a high-skill jobs hub across aerospace and defence, manufacturing, healthcare, freight and logistics industries.
“The overall vision for the Aerotropolis core is that it will be a diverse, dynamic and sustainable global airport city with attractive places for workers, residents and visitors,” planners said.
“The precinct will be centred around a new Sydney Metro station and supported by retail, creative industries, civil and cultural facilities, and world-class public open spaces”.
The Western Sydney Aerotropolis is an 11,200ha area built around the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) airport, which is set to open in 2026.
The plans, constructed alongside the Bradfield City Masterplan, will see 80 buildings up to 15 storeys high, with two million square metres of gross floor area for development.
The 114 hectare Bradfield City Centre will also deliver 10,000 homes and 20,000 jobs. It will include 36 hectares of open space, waterways and playgrounds, and a two-hectare Central Park.
Deputy Premier Prue Car previously said the plan was backed by $1 billion in investment from the NSW Government.
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform Western Sydney and can only be realised if we work together to ensure it benefits everyone,” she said.
