Moorebank Liverpool Hockey Association to host 2020 Australian championships
Hockey Australia has announced the 2020 Australian under-21 men’s and women’s championships will be held at Moorebank Liverpool District Hockey Club.
Moorebank Liverpool District Hockey Club will host the Australian under-21 men’s and women’s championships next year.
The event will run over seven days from Wednesday, July 8, 2020 with the support of the Moorebank Liverpool Hockey Association.
It is expected to bring hundreds of players, coaching staff and families and friends to the Liverpool area.
Hockey Australia said the announcement was part of its ongoing partnership with the NSW Government and Destination NSW.
The Australian championships form a key part of the sport’s pathway to the elite international level.
The under-15 boys’ and girls’ championships will be held in Bathurst in April 2020, supported by the Bathurst Regional Council and Bathurst Hockey Association.
This year’s under-21 competitions will be held next month in Lismore.
Hockey Australia chief executive Matt Favier said the partnership with Destination NSW helped shine a light on the sport.
“We’re delighted to continue our five-year partnership with Destination NSW with Bathurst and Moorebank to host Australian Championships in 2020,” he said.
“The under-15s and under-21s Australian Championships are important events for exposing our next generation of Hockey talent to the top level on their pathway to one day representing our national teams.”
