Nurse arrested for alleged sexual offences

A male nurse has been prohibited from practising and released on $50,000 bail, after allegedly raping a female patient and sexually touching two other women while at work.

Police began investigating Ali Khami Moh’d in September 2021, after a 25-year-old female patient claimed she was sexually assaulted while recovering from heart surgery at Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista.

Moh’d was arrested on March 11 this year, and charged with sexual intercourse without consent over allegations he raped the woman while he was working at the hospital.

He was released on bail and rearrested on Friday morning, after further allegations against Moh’d, 42, were reported to police.

A 67-year-old woman alleged she was sexually touched while awaiting heart surgery at Nepean Hospital in March 2022. A 21-year-old female nursing student also came forward with allegations Moh’d had sexually touched her while they were working together at the same hospital in December 2018.

He appeared before Liverpool Local Court on Friday in front of Magistrate James Viney, who agreed to grant him bail on a series of strict conditions.

As part of his bail, Moh’d put up a $50,000 surety, and was banned from working at any hospital or practising as a nurse.

“He must not engage in any employment as a nurse that involves contact with any patients in the course of his employment,” his bail conditions read.

“Further, Moh’d must not engage in employment that involves any one-on-one tutoring or education with any persons.”

He is also required to report to Macquarie Fields Police three times per week, and surrender his passport.

According to his Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration, Moh’d gained his bachelor of science (nursing) at Jordan University in 2003.

He will next appear before the court in April.
