Wild weather has wreaked havoc in Liverpool, bringing down trees and powerlines, and causing dangerous road conditions for motorists.
Liverpool firefighters were called to Cambridge Ave, Moorebank, shortly before 5am this morning after a man was trapped in his car in floodwaters.
Emergency services were on scene within minutes but the man had managed to free himself from the car, which will remain in floodwaters until they recede.
Overnight Busby firefighters were also called to a number of incidents across Liverpool, with a tree causing damage to a car and blocking Whitford Rd in Green Valley.
The storm also caused a large tree to fall on powerlines at the intersection of Webster Rd and Glen Margaret Drive in Lurnea.
SES Liverpool volunteers have received 62 calls as of this morning and are urging residents to secure loose items around their property.
“Our volunteers worked into the early hours of this morning, and will be out again soon continuing to provide assistance,” the Liverpool unit posted on Facebook.
“If you have lodged a request for assistance with the SES, we ask for your patience as we work through outstanding requests.”
