SES volunteers have responded to dozens of requests for help after a severe hailstorm wreaked havoc across Liverpool on Monday afternoon.
Some homes were left vulnerable to the elements with reports of collapsed ceilings, trees falling on houses and hail damage.
The SES Liverpool unit was joined by volunteers from Bankstown and Fairfield on Monday afternoon and worked through the evening and into Tuesday to help those affected by the wild weather.
By about 6am today, Liverpool’s SES crew had received 52 calls for assistance.
“SES volunteers were in the field until the early hours of this morning ably supported by our incident management team. We continue to respond to outstanding requests and will have teams in the field today, supported by our friends at NSW SES Fairfield Unit,” the team posted on Facebook on Tuesday morning.
Liverpool Council chief executive Kiersten Fishburn said damage was reported in Casula, Holsworthy and Bringelly.
Council staff carried out minor repairs on council facilities affected by the storm, with Casula Library closed until midday on Tuesday after water entered the building.
“Extra street sweepers are attending areas affected by the storm. Council environmental staff are assessing damage to vegetation,” Ms Fishburn said.
