A revised proposal for the $400 million Liverpool Civic Place development includes plans for a new childcare centre, a civic plaza, commercial office space and public parking.
Liverpool Council is seeking feedback on the changes, with submissions open until Sunday, May 26.
If approved, it will be the council’s biggest-ever investment, with construction expected to begin in early 2020 and take two to three years to complete.
The council will commit about $195 million to its components of the project at 52 Scott St, which include new council offices and chambers, a library and community hub, childcare centre, civic plaza, council and public parking, and space for University of Wollongong’s south western Sydney campus.
Works on a hotel and retail and commercial office space will be paid for by the project’s developer Built Holdings Pty Ltd.
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the development will activate the southern end of the city centre “through a mix of uses, providing new public spaces, community facilities and job opportunities for our growing city”.
