Liverpool: Child sex offender Michael Nohra sentenced for failing to report to police

A registered child offender from Sydney’s southwest has landed himself in hot water after failing to comply with his reporting obligations.

A convicted sex pest and now expectant father has been convicted for failing to report to police in line with the conditions of a child protection order.

Michael Nohra, 43, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday to failing to comply with reporting obligations after he failed to attend a police station as part of his annual obligations.

According to documents tendered to court, Nohra has been required to following the conditions of a child protection order since 2017 and had “constant reminders of his reporting obligations each year”.

He was convicted and sentenced on September 23 in 2016 at Campbelltown District Court for committing an act of indecency with a victim under 10 years old.

Court documents, tendered as part of his sentencing on failing to comply with reporting obligations, state Nohra was formally notified of his reporting obligations on April 9, 2017 at Long Bay jail.

His obligations included attending “a police station to report your personal information each year and continue to do so each year”.

Michael Nohra, from Austral, appeared before Liverpool Court on Wednesday.

“(Nohra) was again reminded of his full obligations … on September 29, 2021 by Liverpool police,” the facts state.

The 43-year-old was required to report to police in April as part of his annual reporting obligations but failed to attend the station.

“There is no correspondence at all from the accused during the month of April,” the facts state.

Magistrate Julie Zaki said she understood Nohra was the primary breadwinner for his family after reviewing documents from his employer and pregnant wife who “speak highly” of him.

Ms Zaki convicted Nohra and sentenced to a 12-month conditional release order.
