Tomorrow is the last day for residents to have their say on a $104 million proposal for a 35-storey mixed-use development in the Liverpool CBD.

Lodged in November, the development application has been on public exhibition, with submissions ending tomorrow.

The proposal, submitted by Binah Developments, seeks approval for the demolition of structures at 22 and 24-26 Elizabeth St, Liverpool, and the construction of a high-rise building.

The site is next to Liverpool Police Station and was home to the Peter Warren service centre.

Under the proposal, the tower would feature commercial floors across three levels, 113 hotel rooms, 194 residential apartments, and a restaurant and bar on the top floor.

It would include four levels of basement parking and 345 car spaces.

The development application is currently on public exhibition. Some residents have welcomed more retail and restaurant offerings.

Liverpool Council is the consent authority and the Sydney Western City Planning Panel has the function of determining the application.

According to a Statement of Environmental Effects submitted by the developer, the proposal seeks to inject life into the city centre.

“The uses will combine to maximise the potential of the site, creating the potential for energy and injection of life into the expanding Liverpool CBD experience,” it stated.

“The concept is therefore a tower that not only can make a positive contribution to the city at the street level, but at the broader city scale, performing the dual role that significant towers must satisfy to create a new skyline for Liverpool City.”

Some residents welcomed more retail and restaurant offerings.

One woman, whose name was withheld, said dining options in Liverpool were limited and more choice would be a good thing.

Others questioned the need for more high-rise buildings. Elizabeth, who chose not to disclose her surname, hopes the city centre “doesn’t ever get to the stage where Parramatta is at”.

“They’ve seen fit to nowadays only go up,” she said.

Some pointed to congestion as a major problem. “Foot traffic as well as vehicular traffic is horrendous in Liverpool at the moment,” Sunny Ram posted on Facebook.
