A man who allegedly threatened a staff member and stole cigarettes while armed with a crowbar at a supermarket in Sydney’s southwest has been arrested.

Police were called to the IGA store on Edmondson Ave, Austral after reports of an armed robbery before 8am on Monday.

Less than 48 hours later, police arrested 28-year-old Jaye Stuckey more than 150km away and charged him in relation to the armed robbery.

He was arrested at a property in Nowra and taken to Nowra police station at 5:35am Tuesday.

Stuckey has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with a suspended licence, breaking and entering a house, robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and not disclosing the identity of a driver/passenger.

He appeared at Nowra Local Court on Wednesday before Magistrate James Viney and made no application for bail. No pleas were entered.

The matter was adjourned to Parramatta Local Court on October 5.
