A factory in Sydney’s southwest has been saved from serious damage following a fire late last night.
Fire crews from a dozen stations across Sydney were called to Heathcote Rd in Moorebank about 10.45pm after an automatic fire alarm was triggered and multiple triple-0 calls were made about a factory fire.
Firefighters were met with a fierce blaze upon arrival and acted quickly to save the factory while also protecting exposed gas cylinders from catching alight.
Crews used a forklift and front-end loader at the site to help break up a pile of recycling materials, allowing hose streams to reach the depths of the blaze.
“Firefighters remained on scene until the early hours of this morning, working to ensure the recycling pile was completely extinguished,” a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said.
