Three dogs will be put down after a 78-year-old woman was seriously injured during a dog attack in Greendale yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a property on Greendale Rd, Greendale, just after 5pm following reports the woman had been attacked by her three pet dingoes.
Police said the three dogs turned on the woman when she tried to intervene during a fatal attack on a pug, also owned by the woman.
She was treated at the scene for injuries to her arms, legs and back before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
Two of the dogs were crossbred dingoes and one was a kelpie-cross. All three were microchipped and registered.
Liverpool Council rangers seized the three dogs this morning and transported them to the family vet.
The council’s chief executive Kiersten Fishburn said the owner had decided to put them down.
“Council advises residents that dogs are animals and can be unpredictable. This should be kept in mind when handling them or choosing a pet,” Ms Fishburn said.
