A horror crash which left an elderly woman with a leg amputation has been described as “very sad” and “unfortunate” in court.
Radmila Bogicevic, 75, appeared before Liverpool Local Court on Monday and entered no plea for negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm after she allegedly struck a woman with her car on September 19 at Green Valley Plaza on Wilson Rd.
A single male supporter accompanied Bogicevic as she sat in silence inside the courtroom.
A 74-year-old woman was waiting at the bus stop when Bogicevic’s Toyota Corolla allegedly mounted the kerb and struck her.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the woman who suffered serious leg and facial injuries and was taken via police escort to Liverpool Hospital.
Bogicevic’s lawyer said the incident was “very sad” and confirmed the 74-year-old woman’s injuries were ”serious”.
“My client is very distressed,” Ms Borak said.
The police prosecutor said the matter would be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions due to the seriousness of the injury – despite Bogicevic’s lack of criminal history.
“The injury resulted in an amputation of one of the victim’s legs,” Sgt Hillery said.
Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim adjourned the matter for January 15.
