Community members got a rare behind-the-scenes look at policing when Green Valley police station opened its doors on Saturday.
The station held its first open day in several years and it was a hit – particularly with young families.
Crime Prevention Officer Senior Constable Raffaelle Frisina thanked the community for supporting the event which attracted more than 600 people over the course of the day.
A number of NSW Police agencies including Highway Patrol, Polair and a dedicated domestic violence team were on hand to answer questions.
There was plenty of entertainment too, with children given the chance to drive battery-operated cars with the NSW Police logo.
Army and police recruitment teams were also available to speak about career opportunities.
Sen-Constable Frisina said there was something for everyone.
“(The community) had a great time. They want it more often,” he said.
He said the event was a chance to raise awareness of the different arms of the NSW Police, including the work of specialist officers in the local area command.
He said there was potential for more open days in the future based on community demand.
